Without a doubt, the cable railway of Fuente Dé was one of the best experiences that we had on our route through Asturias, although this attraction is in Cantabria. After crossing the beautiful mountains in Fuente Carrionas and entering Cantabria we went through different villages, to Fuente Dé, located over 0.7 miles. Although the road is now under construction, it wasn’t difficult to arrive to the parking, where we left the car.

When we looked up and we saw where the cable railway was going to take us, we thought that maybe it was not a good idea. Not only because of the height, but also the speed and the last part was almost vertical. When we were inside the cable railway, (which is amazing while it is going up), we realized the gorgeous sights that we could see and for that it was worth it.

The last part of the route was almost completely vertical up to the heart of Peaks of Europe. In almost four minutes we reached 1.25 miles, at one of the highest points of the mountains. When we left the cab and we were able to see the landscapes, we felt great and enjoyed pleasure of gazing at the natural landscapes formed with the passage of time.

When you arrive to the top, there are a lot of activities: to relax and contemplate the gorgeous landscapes while you are having a snack, to walk around the mountains before going back down, to do trekking or to enjoy with a coffee in the cafeteria with the terrace. Our route in Asturias didn’t leave us a lot of time, so after taking pictures and enjoying the landscapes, we had a coffee and came back to the parking, with the cable railway. Normally, you can find goats or another animals eating calmly, if you don’t disturb them nothing will happen.

If the trip up was amazing, the descent was even more incredible because there was no time to get the height. At that moment, we went from having everything under us look small to looking up and feeling small ourselves. There is the option to go down doing by trekking and buying a one way ticket, although we had no time. Be careful, because at 8pm the last cab leaves, if you are late you will be forced to do trekking. Without a doubt, we give a ruskomendation of 5 boquerones to this attraction.
