The Restaurant El Sitio offers an amazing suckling pig, a place with a Golden BoquerÃ³n
On our visit to Segovia and with the suckling pig in our minds, we decided to look for a place to try it but we didnÂ´t want to go to one of the touristy places. We asked local people, as well as using the social networks. Their ruskommendation couldnÂ´t have been better for this restaurant (also bar for tapas), called El Sitio. It is located very close to the Main Square, and it got bonus points because it was on our route.
After we went inside and saw people having their tapas and their wine before going to have lunch at home, we had a good feeling about the place. We must also add that the welcome they gave us from the beginning (before they knew anything about our blog) was really friendly. They treated us like family, and not just us, but everyone, which made us think from the start that this restaurant was competing for the Golden Boqueron.
Location, service, a comfortable local, the only thing missing was a good meal. They gave us an appetizer of artichokes fried lightly with garlics and anchovies, compliments of the house. A simple plate, but exceptional with contrasts in taste and texture. Before the main dish, we got warm with a Castilian soup, with the perfect touch of garlic. Then it was the hour we were all waiting for. First, they showed us a suckling pig that was almost ready so we could take a picture of the waiter cutting it with the plate (a tradition usually done in celebrations at this restaurant).
Fresh out of the oven, our portions of suckling pig arrived. They looked and smelled amazing! Our dish was ready to be devoured, eaten with our hands, of course, according to tradition. This is one of the pleasures that you can only explain by experiencing it with someone. It is without a doubt one of my favorite dishes and eating it in a great place, really made the grade.
Of course, we enjoyed good bottle of red wine and a good homemade dessert with our meal. Finally, they invited us to glasses of herbal liquor. The price for this delicious banquet was, more or less, 30 euros per person that we paid with no problem. When they told us that we had a travel blog and that they were going to receive the maximum mark, they were very excited. Overall we are happy to ruskommend this place with the Golden Boqueron.
