I don’t think anyone would argue with me that mom’s home cooking is some of the best food we’ve tasted. True, it might not be the fanciest recipes, or maybe it is served on a less sophisticated plate without garnish, but this is the food we grew up with. This is the food of memories, love, and family. So, when a restaurant like Say Cheese!, Reading PA, comes along that is serving up some of the classics from our childhood, like mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches and delicious soups and breads, but with a modern twist, we are all for trying it.

Every dish at the restaurant has some kind of cheese element, and all the dishes are both familiar and new at the same time. Think you know a grilled cheese? Okay, how about a feta grilled cheese with spinach and black olive paste? Enjoyed macaroni and cheese as a child? Well they are serving up mac and cheese with bits of salmon! Say Cheese! The front part of Say Cheese! Restaurant is actually a cheese shop. You can browse the different fancy cheeses at the cheese counter, find fresh breads and jams, as well as good ideas for your next party hors deurves! The worn wooden floors, wild flowers on the tables, huge windows and the country style store give you a familiar feeling which goes perfectly with the comfort food the chefs are plating up in the back of Say Cheese! Restaurant.

We were seated at one of the wooden tables, and our drinks came in mason jar glasses, just like they were years ago at family picnics in United States. Then we were faced with the difficult choice of what to order from the delicious menu! We finally settled on the soup and sandwich combo because we wanted to try the French onion soup! I should also mention that Say Cheese! Restaurant has a brunch menu with classic favorites like eggs benedict and omelets also features a treat that Spaniards often enjoy: melon served with ham slices! The salty and sweet combination is delicious, take Rusko’s word for it!

When our food arrived, everything was scrumptious! The soup was just right and the sandwiches were all specially prepared with love and care. This is a place that you don’t come to count calories, but rather to enjoy and really share food with your friends or family. Say Cheese! Restaurant is a place that you won’t leave hungry, and you will most definitely lick your lips. I thoroughly enjoyed this elevated homestyle cooking that reminded me of grilled cheese sandwiches and rainy day lunches from when I was a little girl.

We ruskommend Say Cheese! Restaurant in West Reading with a Golden Boquerón for its delicious food, comfortable dining atmosphere and neat cheese shop at the front of the store. One last tip? Listen to the wait staff. On one of the occasions I stopped in they ruskommended the salmon mac and cheese and the grilled octopus salad. I upped the ruskommendation from 5 boquerones to a Golden Boquerón just for that meal. It was absolutely delicious. This is a great place to come for a break, for a special treat, and most certainly to celebrate the restaurant’s star ingredient: CHEESE!
