Unique Small Towns in Asturias : Cabo de Peñas

Cabo de Peñas is an amazing place where you will be able to reflect

Cabo de Peñas, Asturias

We continued our route and we entered the council of Gozón. Inside, we found small and solitary coves (where you can swim without anyone disturbing you), deep cliffs and interior villages with isolated houses and a lot of ground with wild animals eating calmly.

Maybe, the most touristy village in Gozón is Luanco, although we could not visit it. During our trip we went across almost all the towns of the council. We could observe the green fields, the calm and the landscapes from the villages close to the sea. Our destination was located in the extreme north of Asturias, with the intention of sleeping on a cliff with the sweeping views of the Cantabrian Sea.

Upon arriving to Cabo de Peñas, our emotions rocketed and the feeling of happiness was completely overcame us. The hotel, which we talk about in another article, was located on the cliff, with only the lighthouse illuminating the place. Taking the tripod and camera, in the deepest darkness, we let our imagination go and reflex in the state of calm.

Cabo de Peñas, Asturias

Without a doubt, Cabo de Peñas could be one of the most wonderful places that we have visited. Everything combined with the place where we slept, the exterior calm and the amazing views. Even with the fog, we could contemplate the sea. One of the most well known landmarks was the lighthouse, which is the farthest reaching in Asturias. On the lower floor there is a museum where you can learn about the history of lighthouses, the strong northwest winds, the resources of Gozón or see life size models of sharks.

There were a lot of options for eating there, not only in Cabo de Peñas, but also in small towns and nearby villages. We ate at the Restaurant La Fusteriega, which we will review in future articles, although you must know that it was a positive experience. In summary, Gozón and more specifically Cabo de Peñas, offered us a calm refuge among the touristy towns that we have visited, along with natural beauty. We ruskommend Cabo de Peñas with 5 boquerones.
