Restaurant Mirablau, Barcelona

When we were in Barcelona, our friends ruskommended that we try lots of different places, restaurants, cafés, parks, etc. But one of our favorite places was Café Mirablau at the top of the steep hill in Tibidabo. There are several ways to arrive at this bar and café perched at the top of the hill. One way is by public bus, which you can access with your metro pass or by paying a single ride (this is the cheaper, but less romantic way to climb the hill). Another is by car, as there is parking near the café, although when we were visiting Barcelona, we didn´t have our car. And lastly, an option that might appeal more to tourists than to locals, the trolley car. There is an old fashioned trolley that runs from the base of the hill straight up to café and the incline that you can ride to Tibidabo´s amusement park and the Basilic. The tram will cost you about 5 euros for a ride, but we gladly paid it to have the experience.

When you arrive at the top of the hill, you will see a huge building where you can pay to take the incline up to the lookout point, the Basilic and amusement park. On the other side of the street there is a cafeteria with a royal blue awning overlooking all of Barcelona. This is the Café Mirablau, a place our friend told us was one of the best places to have a drink or a café con leche.

The main attraction of this bar and café is the amazing view. As you walk into the café you can see right away that the prized tables are lining the huge picture window with a view of all of Barcelona. We ordered a coffee and immediately began to take photos. Maybe they aren´t the best views available of the city, but they are gorgeous, and you can spend hours their chatting, enjoying the view, and relaxing.

We visited the Café Mirablau several times during our stay in Barcelona, each time with different friends who had come to visit the city, and I have to admit that we never got tired of looking out the window and seeing how Barcelona sloped down with its maze of streets and buildings all the way to the sea. The environment really takes you away from it all, and allows you to escape the hustle and bustle.

We Ruskommend a visit to the Mirablau Café by day or by night (the views are different). The bar serves cocktails as well, so you can enjoy these amazing views and relaxed atmosphere at any time of the day. Due to its location, atmosphere, and uniqueness we ruskommend the Mirablau Café 5 boquerones. This really is the coolest place we found to have a coffee in Barcelona. Come on…try it out, what´s stopping you?
