OK Apartment Barcelona, Comfortable Apartments with the Ease of a Hotel

The OK Apartment Barcelona are spacious and in a perfect location to enjoy Barcelona to the fullest. There are even discounts for local attractions and parking!

Barcelona, like many cities, has multiple personalities. Depending on what neighborhood you are in, you can have a completely different vibe. We once spent a month living in an apartment in the calm, residential Sarià-Sant Gervasi and we’ve also stayed in the hip and eclectic neighborhood of Gràcia. So when we were offered a chance to reserve a room for a few nights through Ok Apartment Barcelona in la Eixample, which is located in heart of Barcelona, not far from Avinguda Diagonal and only 20 minutes walk from Plaza de Catalunya, we couldn’t wait.

Before arriving at the apartment, we organized a meeting time to get the keys. This might be the only difficulty in apartments vs. hotels. It can sometimes be difficult to predict the time of arrival when traveling. It is, however, important to keep in mind, as there is a 50 euro fine if you are late to pick up the keys. The apartment building was easy to find on the carrer de Girona and we were welcomed into a reception area that reminded me of an antique shop in New York’s Upper East Side. It was a split level with a warm, open feel. The shelves were filled with antique toys and sculptures and the wood tones of the furniture rounded out the classic style. Once we had completed the check-in, we took the elevator up to the attic level. After showing us around the apartment and answering any of our questions, the woman who had done the check in left us to enjoy the apartment.

The apartment had not one, but two terraces to enjoy the views of Barcelona from above. Since it was an attic apartment, one of the terraces was quite large with room for two chaise lounges, a round dining table and ample space to walk around. Unfortunately it wasn’t the best weather when we visited, but we caught a few minutes of sun on our second day at the apartment. The other balcony was smaller and just off the living room. It had a different view of the nearby market with its orange and green tiled roof. Here, too, there was space for a small table and chairs; it was the perfect place for reading a good book.

The bedrooms were spacious, as well. The master bedroom, just off the attic terrace had two twin sized beds pushed together, as well as a small nook with a desk for catching up on some work. The apartment is equipped with free wifi, by the way. The other bedroom, decorated in ruby red tones, was next to the living and dining area. It was a bit smaller, but there was more than enough room for two people. The kitchen was long and narrow, but it had everything that we needed should we have wanted to prepare a meal. In the end, we used it only for breakfast, but we always love having the option to prepare something at “home” when we are traveling. The bathroom was also larger than I anticipated and we were pleased to find that there were towels and soaps available for us, just like a hotel.

The apartment’s location was perfect with easy access to the subway, and within walking distance from the Plaza de Catalunya. We took a stroll down the Passeig de Gràcia and soon found ourselves passing the Casa Batlló of Gaudí and the busy shopping area near the Corte Inglés. I should also mention that when you book with OK Apartment Barcelona there are discounts on certain attractions in the city, as well as parking. This is a huge factor, as parking in Barcelona can be tricky (or expensive). Ok Apartment Barcelona is also pet friendly (although you should make sure to let them know that your furry friend will be joining you when you book your stay.) Dino wasn’t along with us on this particular trip, but I’m sure he would have approved of the space. We were happily surprised to see so many people out walking their dogs in Barcelona.

We would recommend OK Apartment Barcelona to anyone looking for an apartment style accommodation in the heart of the city center. The competitive prices and convenience make it well worth your money; and the location is ideal whether you are visiting Barcelona for the first or the millionth time. It’s the perfect option for people planning for a short or extended stay, especially if you are traveling with pets or a large family.
