La Paradeta Sagrada Familia is one of those restaurants that, after entering, captivates you because of the environment and the things that they offer. While there are five restaurants (four in Barcelona and another in Sitges), we visited the one next to La Sagrada Familia. It is true that the restaurant is always full and attracts a lot of tourists (thanks its fame and location), but it is worth a visit in order to enjoy the fresh fish of the day and overall because of the unique way they have of selling their product.

Right after you go into La Paradeta Sagrada Familia, you will find a big dining room where you will have to look for a table to sit down and eat. We were really lucky because when we entered, two people were leaving and we took their table. On the side there is a big bar where just like at the fish market, they sell you the fresh fish and the seafood by weight. After choosing what fish we wanted to eat and which quantity (by weight), we could choose how they had to prepare it for us (fried, grilled, with a sauce…)

You will be able to complete your order with drinks, salad or other sides. We didn’t like the detail of charging for you the mayonnaise, although we learnt that in Barcelona no one gives you anything for free. After paying and with your number order, you must wait to be called. At this moment you will be able to pick up the plate that is ready, but not the whole order (they will cross this plate off your ticket). We’re sure that all the fish and the seafood that they sell there was fresh and surely delicious, but we could only try some of them.

We ordered salad to refresh us and grilled shrimp which are faster to prepare and we ate them while waiting for the rest of the dishes. We also ordered a plate of fried “chopitos” (little squids) which were perfectly battered, making the fried fish not heavy and reserving its freshness. Finally, we chose some grilled tuna steaks with parsley sauce and grilled squid, which, honestly, we still remember because it was so yummy!

We had white wine to go with the food. They had the wines on display and ordered by price. We chose the house one, which worked for complementing our fantastic night, in a place which emanates celebration. The check didn’t exceed 60 euros, which was a good price for the quality and the quantity for three people. We’re sure that if you go there you are not going to be sorry and surely you will enjoy the way they have combined a restaurant with a fish shop. We ruskommend La Paradeta Sagrada Familia with 4 boquerones.
