The Mexican Restaurant La Leyenda del Agave, in Madrid, is one of the most authentic and tasty places for Mexican food in the city
One of the things I love best about living in a city is the wonderful way different cultures combine and feed off of one another, everyone picking and choosing in fashion, art, music, and of course food! Rusko recently got a craving for some good Mexican food, and of course, he asked his ruskofans where in Madrid was the best Mexican Restaurant. One of the ruskommendations @21wonders was for La Leyenda del Agave Mexican Restaurant located near metro stop Principe de Vergara.
The restaurant is small, but you will see its blue awning with the name clearly printed outside. As you enter the restaurant you are greeted with a wall of photographs with smiling clients celebrating and enjoying the atmosphere. Once you walk downstairs to the restaurant level there is a bar area and dining room. We had come to eat dinner, so we were lead into the spacious dining room and given a cozy table in the corner. There is lots of room for big groups, so it was easy to see where this would be a great place to celebrate a birthday or some other happy event.
We ordered a beer (there are many different Mexican beers to choose from, as well as the Spanish traditional favorites), and the tacos al pastor, as well as the enchiladas with tomato sauce. The first to arrive at the table were the tacos, and we could tell immediately that the tortillas were homemade. The delicious meat was perfectly seasoned and the bite of the pineapple slices was a great contrast to the spices on the meat. I would highly ruskommend this dish. The enchiladas were also very tasty, however they were not quite as hot as I would have hoped. They came with a side of refried beans, and you could have chosen either mole or green sauce, depending on how spicy you like your food.
I would ruskommend going to La Leyenda delAlgave Mexican Restaurant for the authentic Mexican food (much superior to the fast food versions some restuarants try to sell), and for the friendly atmosphere. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but the staff was very friendly answering questions about how hot different foods were, and which different types of beer to try. And most importantly, everything was well worth the wait! Ruskommended La Leyenda del Agave with 5 delicious boquerones.
