The Charlesmark Hotel allows you to stay in the center of Boston, just above the Boston Marathon’s finish line. The rooms are not big, but they have everything you would need. The hotel is very functional.
When we were looking for a hotel in Boston, one of the main criteria was location. We had been warned that parking in the city was tricky, and being touted as one of “America’s Walkable Cities” we wanted to find a place to stay that would allow us to leave our car in the garage and explore on foot. The Charlesmark Hotel is located in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. It was originally a private residence dating back to 1886 and has since been renovated into a modern hotel, located just steps away from some of Boston’s most important sights.
While there is no parking garage associated with the hotel, as is common in Boston, The Charlesmark Hotel has an agreement with a local garage where you can park for a discounted rate. The Charlesmark hotel, while located on Boylston Street, just beside the finish line for the Boston Marathon, does offer a place for you to unload your suitcases at check-in. This is a convenience that is much appreciated, as the parking garage is located several blocks away. It is not a far walk, however if you are travelling with children or heavy luggage, this area to unload suitcases and check in is much appreciated.
The hotel’s decoration is modern and minimalist in the signature black and red colors. We were pleasantly greeted at the front desk and given the keys to our room, which had a beautiful view of the Public Library and Boylston Street. As we walked into our room, classical music was playing, and as a former trumpet player, I smiled recognizing the Hummel Trumpet Concerto. The room, while small, was very clean and functional featuring a full or queen sized bed, a book case and a full media system.
The Charlesmark Hotel offers amenities to its guests including a complimentary breakfast of bagels and donuts, coffee, and juice in the lobby. There is also a cocktail lounge and martini bar offering views of the street and an opportunity to people watch and relax after a day of seeing the sights. Also available are passes to the nearby Boston Sports Club for an additional fee of 15 dollars. The main attraction of the hotel is its location and convenience. We were able to walk to dinner at The Beehive, visit the beautiful Boston Public Garden, see other sights in Boston and catch the Ducky Tour without moving the car from the garage.
If you are looking for a hotel that is in the center of Boston with reasonable prices, the Charlesmark Hotel is a great choice. While the rooms are a bit small, this is par for the course if you are searching for a hotel that is truly in the heart of the city. In fact, the Charlesmark Hotel reminded us of our hotel in the heart of Paris; small, comfortable and modern. The breakfast provided by the hotel allowed us to start our day with energy and the friendly staff made our stay that much more enjoyable. We ruskommend the Charlesmark Hotel with 4 boquerones. This is truly a great starting point for a walking tour of Boston!
