Our experience at the Hotel Palomar Washington DC was fantastic. Located in a charming area, inside it was all modern style and comfort.
When you first arrive at a hotel, most likely you’ve been traveling for a while. You probably just want to drop off your bags, maybe a quick shower and get comfortable before setting off to visit the city. The Hotel Palomar in Washington D.C. understands this idea perfectly. When we walked up to the front desk to check in, the first thing they told us was that we were just in time for the complimentary happy hour in the lobby. A free glass of wine to start our experience in D.C.? Yes, please! In the morning, there would be complimentary coffee and tea, as well.
After checking in, we made our way up to our room, and I couldn’t help but notice the modern art and clean lines of the design of Hotel Palomar. The geometric designs continued into the suite where we would be staying. The stylish lamps on the tables and a coffee table with lines that criss crossed throwing interesting shadows across the sunlit floor. The hotel had been kind enough to leave us a bottle of wine and some fruit and nuts as a snack, as well.
As we passed through the sitting room, we found ourselves in a huge open bedroom space with a bright royal blue colored wall. The artwork on the walls reflected the hotel’s modern and artistic feel, but the bed was all comfort. We laid down for just a few moments and it was tough to convince ourselves not to take a nap right then and there. Of course there was a lot of Washington to explore before we slept!
The room also offered a Jacuzzi style bathtub and a separate shower. It was the kind of bathroom that you would love to have in your own home! Absolutely perfect for relaxing after a long day of walking around the museums and attractions in Washington D.C. In general, you could describe the Hotel Palomar with the words chic comfort. While the lines and artwork made you think of a more modern, minimalist space, the bed, bath, and sitting room were all about kicking back in comfort.
In terms of location, we couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay in Washington D.C. Pedro and I love to walk, so we chose to take the 30 minute walk to the monuments and the Mall. It turns out that we had the perfect evening to see the monuments and enjoy a nice dinner. The subway was also just a short walk away from the hotel, so that was really convenient when we wanted to visit the museums and places a bit farther away!
We should mention that the hotel will store your luggage during the day in case you will be taking advantage of your last hours in Washington D.C. to visit more of the city. Additional amenities include an Italian restaurant, Urbana, fitness center, and free Wi-fi. Overall, the Hotel Palomar was the perfect choice for where to stay in Washington D.C. Between the location, comfort and wonderful service, we would absolutely recommend it as a place to stay if you are visiting the nation’s capital.
