Cambridge, Massachusetts is quite possibly one of the most famous University towns in the United States, or even the world. Located just across the Charles River from Boston proper, this is a beautiful area to stay when you visit Boston and the surrounding area. Found amongst unique coffee shops, restaurants, with easy access to the subway and within walking distance from Harvard’s campus, the Charles Hotel, in Cambridge MA, is located right where you want to be.

Patio of the Charles Hotel, Cambridge MAWhen we arrived at the Charles Hotel we were able to park in the parking lot adjacent to the hotel. The hotel does not have it’s own parking garage, however it does offer to validate your parking for a discounted rate at the lot that is steps away, so by Boston standards, it is very convenient. The lobby itself was quiet and decorated in a clean modern style with paintings of Cambridge and New England on the walls. There were sofas and small tables placed in areas of the large lobby area, as well, perfect for reading a book or waiting to meet someone.

We stayed in the King Charles Suite which was spacious and provided a beautiful view of Cambridge. The room was equipped with a sitting and dining area, a television in the main bedroom, as well as in the bathroom, we loved this idea! We were also treated to a basket of fresh fruit and water. The bed was very comfortable, and the room featured contemporary artwork, and clean lines. There are other room options in the Charles Hotel including the Deluxe Guest Room, the Deluxe King Room, and the Cambridge Suite to name a few. Each one offers the same quality of comfort with different designs to suit your needs.

Lobby of the Charles Hotel, Cambridge MAIn addition to its prime location in the heart of Cambridge, The Charles Hotel offers many amenities to its guests. There are four different restaurants on the premises. We enjoyed breakfast at Henrietta’s Table, a casual restaurant serving American cuisine. There were so many delicious options for breakfast that it was difficult to choose. In the end, however, I went with the bagel with lox and cream cheese, while Pedro chose to try the scrambled eggs with sausage and home fried potatoes. Both of our breakfasts were delicious and the service was quick and courteous. This is a great place for families, as it is a more relaxed atmosphere. Also available at the hotel are the Italian eatery, Rialto, which received 4 stars in the Boston Globe review. The Regattabar is a Cambridge Jazz Club and Noir is the hotel’s cocktail bar. In short, there is something for everyone at the Charles Hotel.

Henrietta's Table in the Charles Hotel, Cambridge MAThe Charles Hotel features a spa and fitness club, as well as a library located in the hotel lobby. There also many activities in and around the hotel depending on the season. We were in Boston during the summer and were able to enjoy the Farmers Market set up just in front of the Hotel on Sunday. There were beautiful local products and a great atmosphere with the various stands. In winter, you can enjoy ice skating at the rink that is set up just next to the hotel. This rink is open to the public, as well as hotel patrons. In any event, make sure to check the hotel’s website for featured events during your stay.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Charles Hotel. It was centrally located, the service was second to none, and the room was very comfortable.
