The well-known author Mark Twain once said, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” This year we’ve done just that. At the drop of a hat we moved from a beautiful city where we enjoyed wine and tapas to one of the most cosmopolitan and energetic cities of the word. From Madrid we moved to the city that never sleeps: New York! We also enjoyed other trips: Rome, Andorra, Valencia, Soria, Calpe, Cádiz, Philadelphia and Princeton. But more than anything else it was a year where we said goodbye to our beloved Madrid with all the bittersweet emotions that come with any goodbye, and hello to New York City with all the nervousness and excitement that come along with all big changes.
We wind up our year with friends (both old and new) and with our families. Without their support this huge change wouldn’t have been possible. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day with our American family in Connecticut and now we rang in the New Year with grapes and cava in Málaga with family and friends here. What was our best trip of the year? It would be impossible to choose. But if any one thing stands out, it is that we are very lucky to be able to share our excitement for travel with all of you and to have so many loved ones by our side. We wish you all the best for a spectacular 2014!
